The Streets Of Chuck Deely festival

The Hague will honour its well-loved American street musician Chuck Deely with a free street festival in the centre of The Hague on Sunday, 25 August.

There will be acoustic concerts during the day from 12.00 to 18.00 hrs. by Tess et les Moutons, Convoi Exceptional, NAFT, De Kiloknallers, Teddy Macrander, Marnix Alexander DuCroock, Pleun Stork, Aymar Torres, Mima's Chio Manush Orkestra, Kurkervrouwen, Jhilani Wijsman, Twigs & Twine, Joost Wander, AliaZ and Pyke.

There will also be separate performance spots for Street Art, Street Dance and Street Theatre.

The Streets Of Chuck Deely festival will conclude with an evening programme on the outdoor stage on the Grote Markt, with completely amplified performances by the Livin´ Blues Xperience, The Balcony Players and a Neil Young Tribute. The first Chuck Deely Awards will be presented by the aldermen Richard de Mos (Economic Affairs) and Robert van Asten (Culture).

About Chuck Deely

The Hague’s street musician Chuck Deely passed away in the hospital in January 2017 at the age of 62 years after he became ill. Charles Edward Deely III was a well-known and well-loved figure in downtown The Hague. The American-born rock guitarist and singer was the only street musician in The Hague to be exempt from a busking permit and was given special permission by the municipality to play his music on the city’s streets for the rest of his life.
