‘A Christmas Carol’ in The Hague

Storyteller Ashley Ramsden returns to The Hague to perform the all-time Christmas classic ‘A Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dickens. With performances on 20, 21 and 22 December in the Theater aan het Spui.

British storyteller Ashley Ramsden performs ‘A Christmas Carol’ single-handedly and shows his formidable talents as a storyteller and actor. The programme embraces the original masterpiece with the transformation of the cold-hearted and tight-fisted Ebenezer Scrooge. The audience is transported back to Victorian England, along the sinister back alleys, cobblestone streets, and ghostly apparitions that are the story’s hallmarks.

Dutch and non-Dutch audiences will listen mesmerised to the story that is still so relevant today in a world where there is a gulf in the distribution of wealth, influence and knowledge.

The Plum Pudding Singers, a 4-part a capella choir from the Royal Conservatoire, will perform Christmas carols before and during all of the shows.

Performance dates

  • Friday, 20 December at 20.15 hrs.
  • Saturday, 21 December at 20.15 hrs.
  • Sunday, 22 December at at 15.00 hrs.

There will also be 4 performances on Tuesday, 17 December and Wednesday, 18 December in the Ridderzaal of the Muiderslot in Muiden.
