Milan Festival

The largest outdoor Hindustani festival in Europe will take place in Zuiderpark from 5 to 7 July. This enormously popular annual event highlights the culture and language of immigrants originating from India and Pakistan and Hindustani from Suriname.

The Milan Festival is actually a gigantic outdoor fair with lots of delicious food and drinks, but there are also bumper cars, candyfloss and tons of information stands. This festival aims to encourage the participation and integration of immigrants in the Netherlands.

The festival is organised to highlight the following themes:

  • Artistic and cultural performances by different ethnic groups
  • Information and advice
  • Education and social themes
  • Sport, games and rides for children and young people
  • Exotic market stalls and tents with various items and culinary delights
Milan Festival

Live music and dance performances will take place throughout the three festival days, featuring a number of well-known Hindustani musicians and dancers as well as other kinds of music and dance including pop, jazz, salsa and break dancing. A spectacular fireworks display will conclude the festival on Sunday evening.

This festival attracts some 80,000 visitors – not only Hindustani but an increasing number of Dutch, Turkish and Moroccan people as well.

Admission to the Milan Festival costs € 4 per person per day and children younger than 5 years are free. The Milan Festival is open on Friday from 16.00 to 23.00 hrs., Saturday from 14.00 to 23.00 hrs. and Sunday from 13.00 to 23.00 hrs.
