The Municipality of The Hague is again paying extra attention to preventing excessive noise in and around Scheveningen beach (Noorderstrand). The so-called 'Muziekregeling' is again in effect to combat excessive noise at Scheveningen beach.
All businesses on the beach and boulevard have received a letter informing them about the rules for playing music and the permitted decibel levels.
Residents with complaints about excessive noise can report this from 1 April to 3 October 2011 by phoning tel. 14 070. The Municipal Department of City Management and the police will check whether the rules are being violated by making unannounced visits.
The municipal information number tel. 14 070 is available 24 hours a day. Residents with complaints about the volume of the music can file a report and also request that the decibel level be measured. They will be phoned back and the complaint will be dealt with.
If it appears that noise levels have been exceeded, the business owner will be fined and charged with a crime.
