The European Centre for Conflict Prevention (ECCP) is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) that promotes effective conflict prevention and peace building strategies and actively supports and connects people working for peace worldwide.
The ECCP was founded in 1997 and in April 2006 it moved to The Hague. It looks to establish stronger ties with municipal efforts in the conflict prevention and peace building area, including with The Hague itself.
The ECCP envisages a world in which people are able and willing to prevent and transform violent conflicts peacefully. The organisation believes in and emphasises the importance of a multi-track approach, local capacities for peace, and partnerships with local organisations, long-term engagement and impartiality. The European Centre for Conflict Prevention holds the secretariat for the European Platform for Conflict Prevention and Transformation and for the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict.
