GEM (Museum of Contemporary Art)

Published: 29 October 2010 Modified: 17 November 2010

GEM displays all kinds of art being produced at the international, national and local level. Its groundbreaking solo and group exhibitions throw light on new trends in contemporary art.

GEM is one of the most important museums for contemporary art and its exhibition area of 2,000 square metres also makes it one of the largest.

GEM displays a large variety of disciplines: (video) installations, paintings and sculptures, multimedia, performance, film, photography, design, digital art and drawings. Works by artists from The Hague, other parts of the Netherlands and abroad are always on display at the same time. Solo exhibitions alternate with group exhibitions which shed light on new trends in contemporary art. The exhibitions are supplemented with activities such as lectures, discussions, performances, film viewings and book presentations.
