A World Trade Center will open in the Prinsenhof in The Hague’s Beatrixkwartier. The Municipal Executive awarded the WTC licence to Bouwinvest, owner of the Prinsenhof office building. Prinsenhof more than meets all the requirements for a World Trade Center. The goal is for a WTC The Hague to open in 2012. The licence is valid for two periods of five years.
According to Deputy Mayor Henk Kool (Economy), ‘A World Trade Centre not only creates a lot of additional jobs, but it also fits in well with The Hague’s profile as the international city of peace and justice. A World Trade Center is a strong and internationally recognised brand for office building occupants. This is good for the city’s image.’
The WTC in The Hague will focus mainly on international business. Companies and organisations working in the area of international trade will be brought together, international companies enticed to locate in The Hague and the WTC will reinforce the international business networks in the city. A WTC business club would also be set up to organise activities for companies and organisations with international operations.
The WTC will have restaurant facilities, facilities
for professionals and meeting and conference space. The tender procedure showed
that there was great interest in having a World Trade Center in The Hague.
Den Haag Nieuw Centrum, the area around the Beatrixkwartier, is more popular than ever before among commercial companies. Recently MN Services, the CAK, Deloitte and Deutsche Bank chose to locate their offices in the area. Den Haag Nieuw Centrum is easily reached by car and public transportation, is located close to the historic city centre and provides facilities for flexible working.
