The municipality mails a voting pass for the upcoming elections to all people in The Hague who are eligible to vote. The voting pass allows you to cast your vote at one of the city’s polling stations.

What is it?

The municipality will mail a voting pass (stempas) for the upcoming elections to all the people in The Hague who are eligible to vote. The voting pass allows you to cast your vote at one of the city’s polling stations. You will receive your voting pass by post.

What are the possibilities?

If you are unable to vote personally at one of The Hague’s polling stations, you may vote by proxy by appointing someone to vote on your behalf. That person should also be eligible to vote in The Hague.

No vote without a voting pass

Is your voting pass lost or damaged? You may not vote without a voting pass. You can request a replacement voting pass at all the sub-municipal offices. To request a replacement voting pass you will need to complete the form ‘aanvraagformulier vervangende stempas’ and you will need to have a valid ID.

For whom is it?

  • For all Dutch citizens who are eligible to vote. They must be 18 years or older and registered in The Hague.
  • Citizens of European Union (EU) member states (for the municipal elections).
  • International residents from non-EU member states who have lived in the Netherlands uninterrupted for five years and have not lost their right to vote in their country of origin (for the municipal elections).

Members of the second and third group must also be 18 years or older and registered in The Hague.
