The beach in Scheveningen between the harbour and the Pier has been made 50 metres wider. The beach was sprayed with an additional 1.1 million cubic metres of sand during the month of November.
All the equipment is being removed from the beach and visitors will soon be able to use the entire beach again, the Municipality of The Hague announced.
The sand supplementation project is part of the Coastal Reinforcement & Boulevard Redesign project in The Hague. In addition to a wider beach, Scheveningen will also get a sturdy and brand new boulevard. All the work should be completed in the spring of 2013.
The sand supplementation project will continue in Kijkduin, with work on the Zuiderstrand beginning soon. Both the beach and the dune area in Kijkduin will be extended.
