Scheveningen will serve as the backdrop for the sports programme ‘VI Oranje’ (Voetbal International Oranje) a month long on RTL 7. The TV programme will focus on the Football World Cup as well as all the fun things there are to do in The Hague including The Hague Festivals.
The TV programme will be broadcast live from the Kurhaus in Scheveningen. The Hague is sponsoring the programme and will also contribute to its content. During the World Cup the programme can be seen daily at 17.50 and 22.20 hrs. on RTL 7.
According to Deputy Mayor Marjolein de Jong (City Marketing), ‘The Hague is being discovered by film and television producers as a perfect location for programmes, TV series and films. VI Oranje will broadcast from one of the most beautiful spots in The Hague, smack in the middle of the festival and beach season. The programme will look at everything this great city has to offer.’
De Jong said that she expected the programme to draw even more visitors to the city centre and beach and contribute to the local economy.
‘VI Oranje’ will gauge the daily ‘World Cup mood’ in The Hague by interviewing people in the city. The bar lady in the Kurhaus, Irene Boelhouwer, will provide commentary and explain what there is to do in the city and on the beach.
The programme will also feature all the events during The Hague Festivals as well as the huge renovation project for the Boulevard in Scheveningen. Well-known residents of The Hague, like Mayor Jozias van Aartsen, will also be interviewed on the programme.
