Are you employed in the Netherlands as a diplomat or consular officer? Then you have special residency status.
A privileged person is someone who is employed in the Netherlands as a diplomat or a consular employee. Or someone who works for an international organisation, e.g. the United Nations. Are you a privileged person? Then you are entitled to special residency status by law. You can consider registering in the Municipal Personal Records Database (GBA).
Documents from certain countries must be legalised or provided with an apostille stamp. More information on this topic is available on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Documents from abroad which are not written in Dutch, French, German or English must be translated into Dutch by a sworn translator in the Netherlands.
The municipality will verify the authenticity of your identity documents.
This service is provided free of charge.
You will be registered in the GBA while you wait. You will also receive a Burgerservicenummer (citizen service number) straight away.
