The Scheveningseslag and Harteveltstraat will be redesigned as part of the redevelopment project for the Scheveningen Boulevard. The Municipal Executive has approved a preliminary design. Work will be carried out in the summer months.
The new look for the boulevard will be extended to the Scheveningseslag and the street’s connection to the Gevers Deynootweg will be improved. One-way traffic on the boulevard by the Zeekant will create space for a bicycle path and wider footpaths on the Scheveningseslag. Parking spots will be integrated in the median strip.
The Harteveltstraat will paved the same way as the new boulevard. The steps at the end of the street will be replaced by a ramp. Museum Beelden aan Zee and the sculpture garden on the boulevard will now be connected to each other by placing two of the fairytale sculptures in the Harteveltstraat.
Two aspects of the old design were changed following reactions from the public. Sixteen parking spots will be created in the median strip of the Scheveningseslag. The cycle path on the Strandweg will connect to the Scheveningseslag by the pedestrian crossing for the Scheveningse Duyn instead of by the terminus loop for the bus.
