Paid parking will be introduced to Duinoord north as of 1 May 2012. The area will have paid parking the entire week from 18.00 to 24.00 hrs. A ticket from the dispenser will cost € 1.70 an hour.
The Hague Municipal Executive aims to reduce the numbers of cars parking in the neighbourhood and improve the liveability and safety there. Residents can apply for a parking permit as long as they do not have a parking garage where they need to park. Duinoord north is the area between the President Kennedylaan, Stadhouderslaan, Groot Hertoginnelaan and Conradkade.
An evaluation of paid parking in the Regentessekwartier and Duinoord in September 2011 showed that the northern side of the area was grappling with overcrowded street parking. Research showed that 100% of the on-street spots were taken in the evening hours in Duinoord north, while the norm is a maximum of 90%.
A survey among residents revealed that they were evenly split on the issue of paid parking in the neighbourhood.
