Parktheater Den Haag is the new name for the Zuiderpark Open-Air Theatre. Recently AT Events took over the theatre’s management and it will be fixed up and modernised in the coming months.
AT Events chose a more modern name for the theatre in consultation with the municipality. 'It means a new fresh start for the theatre after two bad seasons in 2009 and 2010,’ according to Arwin Touw, director of AT Events.
It’s not an easy task to operate an open-air theatre in the Netherlands with such unpredictable weather. AT Events has written a plan outlining the theatre’s social function. The theatre is located on an island in Zuiderpark and is the perfect place to introduce children to the theatre. Based on the professional experience of AT Events, the Municipal Executive agreed to let the bureau manage the theatre in 2011 and 2012.
Between 20 and 30 performances are planned for the 2011 season. The Parktheater is open from May to September and is also available for company parties and meetings.
