Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs)

Published: 05 August 2009 Modified: 23 June 2011

In addition to the large and well-known organisations as the International Criminal Court and the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, The Hague also plays host to a large number of non-governmental organisations.

These NGOs monitor and try to exert influence over the large governmental organizations as well as promote greater awareness in a variety of areas.

The Hague is home to NGOs active on a number of fronts. However, the most important front is the area of peace and justice. Of the more than 90 NGOs and other internationally-oriented organisations that are based in The Hague, more then half of them are active in the area of peace and justice.

Here you can download the 2010 Guide to International Organizations in The Hague with extensive information about the NGOs in The Hague.
