The Municipality of The Hague will place new rubbish bins in the city starting the week of 23 August. The new bins are larger than the current ones and are better visible. A number of the new bins will have a special built-in ashtray.
The new bins have a capacity of 100 litres and will be placed in areas with a litter problem, primarily in Scheveningen, Kijkduin and in and around the city centre.
Fewer bins will be placed in areas where there is less of a need for rubbish bins - in residential streets, for example. Residents who would like a rubbish bin placed in their street can adopt a bin. They will then be responsible themselves for emptying the bin themselves.
With these new bins, the municipality expects less garbage on the street.
