The International Court of Justice is the principal judicial authority of the United Nations.
The ICJ is the principal judicial authority of the United Nations. Created in 1946, it consists of 15 independent judges from all over the world. The Court settles disputes between states in accordance with international law and gives advisory opinions to the UN on legal questions.
It holds a key position in the maintenance of international peace and security established by the Charter of the UN.
