Going to GP units

Published: 25 August 2009 Modified: 15 October 2009

The GP units offer no walk-in service. You cannot simply turn up at the unit. It is vital for the operation at the GP units that you call in advance and refrain from visiting the unit directly. You can see one of the GPs by appointment only, and only after deliberation on the phone.

The assistant will tell you where to go for help. Remember that you will have to produce a valid insurance card upon arrival at the unit. The waiting room has limited space, so please do not bring along more than one companion.

Transport

If it is advisable from a medical viewpoint that the patient comes in for a consultation, then you will have to arrange transport yourself. Children with a fever can generally be transported without any problems. If for medical reasons you cannot be transported, the GP will make a house call. A driver who can provide medical assistance will bring the physician to your home in a vehicle equipped with an on-board navigation system.
