First free running track in The Hague

Published: 14 November 2011 Modified: 14 November 2011

The first free running track officially opened in The Hague on 12 November. Free running, or parkour, is a new extreme sport originally developed in France.

The free running circuit is located on the Groen van Prinstererlaan in the neighbourhood of Rosenburg. Free running is a method of movement focused on moving around obstacles with speed and efficiency. The main purpose of the discipline is to teach participants how to move through their environment by vaulting, rolling, running, climbing and jumping.

The track can be found next to the gymnastics hall belonging to the Die Hage gymnastics club.

You can watch a short video about the new free running facility on West Online.
