Extra stop for Tram 19 in Ypenburg

Published: 25 February 2011 Modified: 15 July 2011

Tram 19 will get an extra stop in Ypenburg by the end of 2011. It will be located by the De Reef health centre, the new Hofbad swimming pool (still under construction) and Montaigne Lyceum.

According to Deputy Mayor Peter Smit (Transportation), ‘When line 19 was constructed, the health centre and high school were not yet there. Travellers could reach the Weidvogellaan and area on Bus 61 and 62. The neighbourhood expressed a strong desire for a tram stop and we expect several hundred people to use the new stop, especially once the swimming pool is open next year.’

The tram stop will be placed at the corner of the Kiekendiefstraat and the Laan van Nootdorp.

The new stop costs approximately € 400,000 and will be paid by the City Region of Haaglanden (Stadsgewest Haaglanden) and the national government. The stop is part of the Haaglanden Quick Winpakket of the Meerjareninvesteringsprogramma Ruimte en Transport (MIRT).
