Do you already have a driving licence and have you recently passed another category driving test? Then you need to apply for a new driving licence, which will also show the new category.
You already have a driving licence for a vehicle such as a passenger car.
Have you recently passed another category driving test such as a motorcycle licence? Then you need to renew your driving licence, which will also show the new category.
You must turn in your old driving licence when collecting your new one.
The Central Office for Motor Vehicle Driver Testing (CBR) will register two certificates under your name in the driving licence register:
The CBR usually registers these certificates on the first working day after you have passed your driving test.
Are categories C, C1, D and/or D1 (heavy vehicle driving licence) displayed on your current driving licence? These categories will have the same period of validity on your new licence as they have on the current one. To extend the period for these categories, you will need to go for an assessment.
Would you like to extend all the categories on your new driving licence? Then ensure that you apply for a certificate of fitness for the categories C, C1, D and/or D1 at the CBR well in advance.
To obtain a driving licence, you need to meet one of the following requirements:
Anyone who has passed the driving test.
The municipality will verify the authenticity of your identity documents.
Applying for a driving licence: € 45.25
Expedited application procedure: an additional € 33.50

Do you need your driving licence urgently? Then you may make use of the expedited procedure, in which case you will receive your licence after one working day (if the application is submitted before 14.00 hrs.). Additional charges apply to this procedure.
