As of 1 October 2011 dogs are again allowed to frolic on The Hague’s beaches to their heart’s content. As usual dogs are allowed to run freely on both the Noorderstrand (North Beach) and Zuiderstrand (South Beach) until 15 May.
Dogs do not have to be leashed but owners are asked to show as much consideration as possible for other visitors to the beach. During the beach season from 15 May to 1 October, dogs are permitted on only a limited section of the beach.
In order to keep the city clean, there is a clean-up rule for dogs throughout the city. This applies to the beach as well. Dog owners should therefore always have a paper or plastic baggie or a “pooper scooper” with them at all times in order to clean up the dog poop.
In addition to the beach there are more than 130 areas in The Hague where dogs are allowed to roam freely. All the areas open to dogs and other information about dogs in The Hague can be found in our Dogs section or at www.denhaag.nl/honden.
