Certain transactions require certified documents. You can obtain these from the municipality.
The municipality certifies a document to confirm that it is an exact copy of the original. This is done using a stamp and signature.
An organisation might sometimes ask you to submit a certified document, for example if you are applying for a job. In that case, you can make copies of certificates and have them certified at the municipality. This provides proof that the documents are a true copy of the original. You may also use a certified document if you do not want to submit the original document. The following documents can be certified at present: copies of travel documents, driving licence, certificates and contracts. The municipality does not certify diplomas or church-related documents.
