Beach Express to Scheveningen

Going to Scheveningen on a Sunday this summer? Avoid traffic and save money on parking by parking your car at P+R Hoornwijk. Starting in May 2014 the Beach Express (Strandexpress) tram runs every Sunday from P+R Hoornwijck directly to Scheveningen beach in just 30 minutes.
Parking at P+R Hoornwijck and a return ticket for the Beach Express together cost only € 2 for up to 4 people. On other days of the week you can also easily reach the beach from P+R Hoornwijck by taking the Binnenstad Express (Tram 15) downtown and switching to Tram 1 or 9 (or Tram 11 from the Hollands Spoor train station).
The Beach Express operates every Sunday from 1 June to 31 August 2014. It will also operate on Ascension Day (29 May) and Whit Monday (9 June). Tram 5 departs every 10 minutes for Scheveningen beach and the end station is the Zwarte Pad. The travel time is approximately 30 minutes.
Opening hours and rates
P+R Hoornwijck is open 24 hours a day. A parking card, including a tram ticket for 4 people, costs € 2 in the weekend. This all-day pass can be used everywhere in The Hague on all HTM lines. You do not need to check in and out of the tram with it. Additional members of your group pay the regular tram rate. You can also pay an extra fee and leave your car parked there for more than 1 day.
The P+R is located on the Laan van Hoornwijck in The Hague and is signposted on the A4, A12 and A13. The car park is well-lit in the evening for your convenience and safety. The departure times for the Beach Express (Tram 5) can be found at www.htm.net.
