Beach Challenge in Kijkduin

The beautiful beach, sea and dunes surrounding Kijkduin are the main elements of the tough course of the Kyocera Beach Challenge Cross triathlon. During the weekend of 18 and 19 July, Kijkduin hosts not only the triathlon, but also various single sport events.
More than 650 athletes are slated to compete in the 1.5 km swim, 28 km mountain bike and 10 km cross-country trail run. Last year Kijkduin hosted the International Triathlon Union (ITU) Cross Triathlon World Championships and this July athletets from different nations will also be competing. It promises to be a great event again.
Athletes will face unique challenges on the course in the seaside resort of Kijkduin, with the ocean start known for its choppy surf, followed by bike and run trails on soft sand.
Not only the triathlon, but various single sport events will also be held during the weekend of 18 and 19 July. The events will start on Friday with a sea swim and a beach run of 5 and 10 km. This year will be the first time that prize money is available for the 3 winning athletes. The beach run promises to have a strong starting field. On Saturday there will be a Kids Challenge and the cross triathlon.
You can participate in the off-road triathlon or other events yourself or just come down and cheer on the participants in this spectacular sporting event, which includes swimming, mountain bike and running competitions.
During the late morning on Saturday there’s a challenge for kids and teenagers aged 4 to 16 years. The kids can try out their skills on an adventurous trail run on the beach and through the water. The youngest kids start at 11.45 hrs., youth from 6 to 8 years (1 km run) at 11.45 hrs., 9 to 11 years (2 km run) at 11.00 hrs. and 12 to 16 years (2 km run) at 11.00 hrs.
