Aloysius bridge opens in Benoordenhout

Published: 21 November 2011 Modified: 22 November 2011

The Aloysius bridge in The Hague’s Benoordenhout neighbourhood was officially opened on 18 November. The bridge offers high school students at Aloysius College a better route to school and more peace for area residents.

Thanks to the new bridge students can reach the nearest tram stop (Tram 9) more safely. For neighbourhood residents this means an end to the daily nuisance caused by large groups of teenagers walking through residential streets back and forth to school. The new pedestrian bridge connects the school to the Waalsdorperweg.

According to Deputy Mayor Ingrid van Engelshoven (Education and Public Services), ‘This is an example of a collaboration where everyone benefits: residents, school and community. And a good illustration of the school’s motto of working together.’
