'Takkenroute' for garden waste

Published: 29 October 2009 Modified: 22 March 2010

During the 'Takkenroute' the Municipality of The Hague arranges for special trucks to collect garden clippings for free throughout the city.

The garden looks great again but where do I put all those branches and leaves?

During the 'Takkenroute', which is organised twice a year in the spring and autumn, the Municipality of The Hague arranges for special trucks to collect garden clippings for free throughout the city. You may also ask to have oversized items from your garden picked up.

What will be picked up:

  • trees, bushes and branches shortened to a maximum of 1.20 metres long;
  • tree trunks and branches with a diameter of of maximum 20 cm;
  • loose branches and bushes tied together with a rope.

Please make an appointment by calling the Grofvuiltelefoon on telephone 070 - 366 0808.

Your request will be handled within three working days.

The separately collected garden clippings will be used to make compost. You can also have your oversized garden waste collected outside of these Takkenroute periods by calling the Grofvuiltelefoon, but then the garden clippings will be treated as oversized household waste.
