New bicycle lock-up on the Laan

Published: 14 June 2012 Modified: 29 November 2012

A new guarded bicycle lock-up was officially opened on 13 June on the Laan, close by the Grote Markt, with space for 500 bikes. Everybody will be able to park his bicycle there for free during the coming months.

The underground bicycle parking is meant to put an end to the bikes scattered about on and around the Grote Markt. The entrance to the lock-up is next to the Texaco petrol station on the Laan. A repairman will be able to fix flat tires and make other repairs.

Now that the bicycle lock-up has been officially opened, the Municipality of The Hague would like to revamp the surroundings. The area from the Jan Hendrikstraat to the Grote Markt will be redesigned, with the Laan becoming one of the main entry points to the city centre. Work should be completed by the end of the summer.
