After a one-year delay, the ‘Royal Beach Concert’ has now been given the go-ahead to hold a mega concert by the American rock band Bon Jovi on Saturday, 5 June 2010. Tickets will go on sale starting 30 January through various ticket websites. The afternoon concert is meant to attract 100,000 people to Scheveningen beach.
The first edition of the Royal Beach Concert will also feature performances by the local bands Kane and Di-Rect. Organisor Bob Reiche has gotten the BankGiro Loterij involved in his plans. In the original set-up concertgoers would pay only for exclusive Seats on the beach and a separate acoustic concert in the Kurhaus. The rest of the audience would be able to attend the concert for free.
In the new version of the Royal Beach Concert tickets cost between € 55 and € 190. New members of the BankGiro Loterij do get a free ticket. People who are already members pay half of the ticket price.
The beach concert will take place from 12.00 to 19.00 hrs and afterwards Bon Jovi will give an intimate acoustic performance in the Kurhaus. The ticket price for this special concert will be significantly more expensive than for the beach concert.
For 20 years Reiche has owned a media company which also organises large consumer fairs. He decided to organise this concert in order to place The Hague back on the map after it lost the North Sea Jazz Festival and the Red Bull Knock Out Race.
Last year there were rumours that Robbie Williams, Prince or U2 would come to Scheveningen. With Bon Jovi as the main act, The Hague will get a band of international fame. With more than 34 million fans in 50 countries, this band is one of the biggest bands in the world. Their new album ‘The Circle’ was the top-selling album in many countries right after its release.
