Nearly 1,000 archaeologists are in The Hague from 1 to 5 September for the 16th Annual Meeting of the European Association of Archaeologists (EAA). The EAA Annual Meeting is a showcase both for archaeologists and companies in the sector.
It represents the opportunity for archaeologists and related groups to meet and continue the EAA’s efforts to accomplish the objective of a more integrated European archaeology community.
During the meeting delegates will discuss the findings of recent studies and publishers will present their books. Excursions will also be organised to important archaeological sites in the Netherlands.
The meeting will be opened in the Royal Conservatoire where the European Award for Archaeological Heritage will be presented. The exhibition 'Import Europa' will also be opened in the Atrium of The Hague City Hall with excavations from The Hague and the rest of Europe.
The meeting is organised by the Faculty of Archaeology at Leiden University, the Department of Archaeology of the Municipality of The Hague and the Cultural Heritage Agency (Ministry of Education, Culture and Science), with financial support from the Minister of Culture.
