The Juvenile Health Care centre (Jeugdgezondheidszorg/JGZ) of the Public Health Department (GGD) provides guidance to parents and guardians of children from 4 to 19 years of age in terms of their physical, mental and social development.
At 5.5 years of age children will receive an appointment by post to visit the juvenile doctor (jeugdarts) and at 10 years to visit the juvenile nurse (jeugdverpleegkundige) at the Juvenile Health Care Centre in his/her school’s district. The envelope includes an invitation, an information folder and a questionnaire. When children are approximately 13 years of age the juvenile nurse will pay a visit to their high school (provided it’s in The Hague).
During their appointment children will be examined and you may ask any questions you may have regarding your child's health or development.
Monday through Friday from 8.15 till 16.45 hrs.
Don't forget to bring the letter regarding the appointment, any medication your child might be taking, and your child's vaccination record with you to the appointment. If it appears that your child is missing a vaccination, he/she will be placed on the list for the following vaccination round. The JGZ organises a week in the spring and autumn in which children are vaccinated.
The examinations, appointments and vaccinations are provided free of charge. The JGZ is bound by a confidentiality agreement.
More information is available from the JGZ department of the GGD on (070) 353 71 78 or (070) 353 71 81. Parents are always welcome to stop by or call with any questions they may have about their child’s development.
