Parking permits for residents

Published: 01 January 2011 Modified: 12 March 2012

You can obtain a resident’s parking permit for on-street parking at the Parking Department. You can also request a visitor’s permit so that your visitors do not have to buy a parking ticket from the dispenser.

Parking permit

You qualify for a parking permit if you are registered in the GBA of The Hague and live in a neighbourhood with paid parking. Residents with a private parking spot or garage are not eligible for a parking permit. Click here for an overview of the neighbourhoods with paid parking.

What you need

  • If you live in The Hague but you’re not registered in the GBA, you will need to show a copy of a signed rental agreement or purchase deed.
  •  When applying for a parking permit, do not forget to bring along a copy of the car’s registration papers (Part 1 and 1b) as well as a valid ID (passport, driving license or identity card).
  • You can pay in cash or with your bank or chip (Smart) card.
  • You do not have to appear in person at the Parking department, but can send someone in your place. That person must show a valid ID as well as for the applicant. You must provide a written and signed authorisation for the person representing you.

Application procedures

To apply in person, please visit The Hague’s Municipal Parking Division. This is the fastest way of getting your parking permit as you will be issued your permit immediately.

Online

You can apply for a resident's or visitor's parking permit electronically using an online application form (in Dutch). You will be asked to upload the required documents. This procedure takes four working days.
