Pulchri Studio

The artists association Pulchri Studio in The Hague, founded in 1847, welcomes the active participation of expats and is therefore offering special membership conditions. Pulchri includes among its membership a number of famous Dutch artists. The association consists of two categories of members: artists (approx. 450 members) and art enthusiasts (approx. 800 members).

As a member, you are part of a stylish and active club in the area of contemporary art. You will be invited to the official openings of about 75 exhibitions per year as well as to the annual meeting.

The three galleries and three museum rooms, as well as the club room and garden, are freely accessible to visitors during the day. Members may also visit the club room after 17.00 hrs. The prices for the tasty meals and drinks are quite reasonable. A number of events, including jazz music and lectures, are organised in the club room and other rooms. Members receive the (Dutch-language) newspaper Pulchri Nieuws five times a year and a 5 % discount on art purchases.

Membership conditions

For artists to become members, they must be selected by a panel. Art lovers are normally nominated by members. However, members of the international community who are interested in membership can contact the director of the Pulchri Studio, Jacques Zwaan, tel: 070 - 346 1735. A (family) membership costs € 225 per annum.

All members may invite a guest and are allowed to introduce one housemate or partner as a permanent guest, who will be issued a permanent guest card.

Opening hours

The expositions and restaurant of the Pulchri Studio are open Tuesday to Sunday from 11.00 till 17.00 hrs. The club room is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 17.00 till 23.00 hrs.

Business Events

Centrally situated on the historic Lange Voorhout, art gallery Pulchri Studio is a unique venue suitable to such diverse events as meetings, seminars, parties, receptions, dinners or buffets. Culinary matters are exclusively in the expert hands of Boenk & de Groot Catering.
