Kooman’s Puppet Theatre in an old villa in the Statenkwartier is the oldest permanent puppet theatre in the country.
Father and son Frank and Arjan Kooman have produced children’s puppet shows in the theatre every Wednesday and Saturday afternoon since 1960. About 100 puppet shows a year are also put on at primary schools, festivals and in small theatres in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Kooman’s Puppet Theatre produces theatre for children and adults. The most important elements of a children’s performance include an exciting but in no way frightening story with plenty of laughs. Surprising puppet shows where language, music, colour and light take centre stage.
The children’s performances are suitable for children aged 5 to 11 years. Birthday parties can also be arranged at the theatre, which seat 100 people.
