The Hague Academy of International Law

International Organisation

Published: 11 September 2009 Modified: 23 November 2009

The Hague Academy of International Law was founded on 14 July 1923 in accordance with the ideas from the Second Hague Peace Conference of 1907. An earlier start had been planned but was postponed due to the outbreak of the Second World War.

Each summer some 600 young lawyers and diplomats from all over the world flock to The Hague to attend the French- and English-language lectures.

All the various courses are bound in a series of Collected Courses that consist of more than 300 volumes. This collection is one of the most rewarding treasure troves of contemporary international law and has contributed a great deal towards developing this field of law.
